Charles Mullenger | Founder & Director

Charles founded Steel Tree to pursue his lifelong dream of owning and leading a small American company. Growing up in a 110 year-old family owned business, his desire to be an entrepreneur started at a young age.  Most importantly, his past experiences drive an intense desire to lead a highly-qualified, self-sustaining and winning management team.

Charles previously worked at HBM Holdings, a St. Louis-based investment and management firm, where he provided strategic planning, oversight, and operational support for HBM's platform companies.  Additionally, he evaluated and invested in middle market manufacturing businesses to advance portfolio growth.  Prior to HBM, Charles served in the U.S. Army as a Field Artillery Officer in combat and training environments across the globe, leading 5 to 50 soldiers and maintaining over $100M of equipment.

Charles is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and has now lived in eight different states.  He is married to his wife, Lindsay, and they have two daughters. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
